Who is your god?

Various types of gods rule in the hearts of men. We have the god of greed, the god of unforgiveness, the god of gossip, the god of pride, the god of theft, the god of adultery, and many others. Although people claim to believe in the Almighty God, one must question the validity of that belief in light of the behaviour we see today. When we hear about individuals committing evil deeds, we can't help but wonder: is there a God within them? Your actions, words, and ways show the type of God you serve. For instance, a person who commits adultery cannot be serving the Almighty God; it is not possible as the god such a man or woman serves is the god of adultery that sits in their hearts, so for someone to commit adultery and still say I serve the Almighty God it's not possible. A greedy man desires to acquire everything in this world and fails to recognise when to stop. Although he claims to believe in the Almighty God, the force within him is not the true Almighty but rather that of greed. This image of greed dominates his thoughts and dictates his life's rules and standards. A person who does not forgive and holds grudges cannot claim to serve the Almighty God; it's simply impossible. The Almighty God is known as the God who forgives, and His presence dwells in the heart of a person who forgives. This divine influence guides their actions and thoughts, illuminating their path and directing what they should do. However, these people will go to places of worship and claim they are worshipping the Almighty God, which is not possible. Some people worship a god of gossip and slander, which drives them to destroy the reputations of others. This god gives them energy and enthusiasm, fueling their desire to talk negatively about those around them. They are consumed by the need to gossip and defame others. A person who steals cannot say I serve God, it's not possible as the god he serves is a god of theft, the god that drives his behaviour and controls his eyes, and he sees things that belong to other people, and he cannot restrict the urge and steals. A disorganised person cannot claim to serve the Lord.

The Almighty God is a God of order, where everything is in harmony. Therefore, someone who lives a chaotic life cannot genuinely say they serve God, as that would contradict the nature of a God who represents order. A man who beats his wife or a woman who insults her husband cannot claim to serve God or honestly know the Almighty. The God you serve is evident in your behaviour, thoughts, actions, views, attitudes, and principles. On Sundays, people flood into churches and religious houses, but they carry different gods in their hearts. When people pray to Almighty God and feel their prayers go unanswered, they often conclude that there is no God and become angry with Him. However, they may not realise that the concept of God within them is a different understanding altogether.

The most commonly worshipped deity for many people today is money. It has become the primary focus of their lives, with individuals often prioritising it above all else. Money influences their actions, leading them to make questionable choices and guiding their decisions. For many, money truly is their god. Because of this devotion to money, they may go to great lengths to acquire it, often compromising their values and integrity in the process.

Before you pray, it's essential to reflect on who your God is. Whoever your God may be, that is who you should direct your prayers to. I often wonder what the heavenly being thinks about our world today. There's so much greed, hatred, unrest, disorder, gossip, and defamation. Where is all this negativity stemming from? It arises from the different gods that people choose to serve. Some employers can be ruthless; they lack authentic leadership, destroy organisations, and impose heavy burdens on their employees. They claim to serve God, but is that true? The Almighty God we serve is a God of mercy, compassion, and kindness—a God of order. In a world filled with chaos, God's voice becomes silent while these lesser gods' voices grow louder. However, there is hope amid all of this. The starting point lies in acknowledging and telling yourself, "I need to return to the Almighty God." When you realise that you must return to the true God, that is the essence of salvation.
